SANDUSKY PARKS & RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
|
The City of Sandusky is fortunate to be able to offer a variety of public parks and recreational facilities. Whether you choose to stroll through our floral gardens in downtown's Washington Parks, play ball on one of our 17 ball diamonds, challenge the links at Mills Creek Golf Course, launch a boat to go fishing on Lake Erie, plan a picnic at one of our many shelters, or watch a picturesque sunset on the Bay, Sandusky offers all, and more. The links below are brochures (in pdf format) for each of the parks or public areas identified.

Sandusky, Ohio was named the 2004 winner of the America in Bloom Award for the 25,001 - 50,000 population category. Winners in 8 population categories were announced at the Third Annual America in Bloom (AIB) Symposium and Awards
Program on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Hyatt Regency at State Capitol, Indianapolis.
As a national winner, Sandusky was eligible to participate in the 2005 international competition for blooming communities called "Communities in Bloom". Like AIB, "Communities in Bloom" is an international contest committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community participation and the challenge of a national competition.
In this friendly competition, communities are matched by population and evaluated on their efforts related to tidiness effort, environmental awareness, community involvement, natural & architectural heritage preservation, urban forestry, landscaped areas, floral displays and turf and groundcover areas.
