The Sandusky Fire Department proudly serves over 29,000 permanent residents for 14.7 square miles. Our northernmost boundary is Lake Erie and the surrounding shoreline. Our adjoining neighbors are Perkins Township  (South), the City of Huron, and Huron Township (East), and Margaretta Township (West).  We are the largest fire department in Erie County with 47 career fire fighters responding from three stations with an ISO rating of 3 from the National Fire Protection Association.

The Sandusky Fire Department is a full service fire department providing Fire, Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Technical Rescue (Scuba, Trench, High Angle, Structural Collapse and Confined Space).  We also support the Countywide Hazardous Materials Team with several technicians on our staff.

Our response area is in the heart of Vacationland with much to offer families in regards to outdoor entertainment and recreation. Cedar Point is one of the world’s largest Amusement Parks and is located in Sandusky. Cedar Point’s daily attendance adds 30,000 - 50,000 visitors to the population of our city from May through October.
