Oakland Cemetery & Memorial Park is a municipal cemetery located just south of Perkins Avenue on Milan Road. The City of Sandusky purchased Oakland Cemetery & Memorial Park, which originally encompassed some 134 acres, from land owned by the widow Jane S. Williams, heir to the 500 acre Beatty Tract. John Beatty was a pioneer settler of Perkins Township (link to Perkins Township) brother of Mrs. Williams. One of the largest blocks of granite in Oakland Cemetery bears the name of John Beatty and many of his heirs. It is located near the Northwest corner of the cemetery.

Special Care Fund
Oakland Cemetery & Memorial Park offers different types of burials to suit every individual need. The cemetery sells plots for conventional in-ground burial, and these areas of the Oakland Cemetery offer special care from donations to the Special Care Fund. (link to pdf) This entitles the plot owner to groundskeeping care throughout the year. The Oakland Cemetery also offers above-ground entombment in private mausoleums or in the Garden Mausoleum.

This garden type mausoleum was constructed and dedicated in 1979. Its unique open air construction and use of native sandstone and marble create a beautiful blend of modern function and Old World quality.
